Integrative Anxiety and Trauma Therapy Postdoctoral Program

The Postdoctoral Fellow Position is currently open for the 2027-2029 cohort.

Position Description: This is a two-year, full time, hybrid (in-person and online) postdoctoral psychologist position that will contribute to North Carolina state requirements for permanent licensure as a Psychologist. Fellows will be provided with a full-furnished office that may be shared with another therapist.

Postdoctoral Fellows will…

  • Have a gradual build to 25 client contact hours (including individual, couples and group psychotherapy) per week with open availability of 40 hours per week for other admin, professional development, and training requirements

  • Be available two evenings (until 8pm) per week or one weekend day.

  • Attend weekly supervision with experienced psychologists with backgrounds in evidence-based and somatically integrative approaches including mindfulness-based CBT, ACT, somatically-integrative (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing) trauma-focused work, and EMDR-informed conceptualization.

  • Attend peer consultation groups (bi-monthly), professional development trainings hosted by MBTW, and any postdoctoral associate specific didactics hosted by MBTW. First-year postdoctoral seminars will focus on NC-specific mandatory reporting procedures, risk assessment, and trauma theory, research, and therapy principles. Second-year postdoctoral seminars will focus on integrative somatic trauma psychotherapy principles and interventions.

  • Present 1 case conference to the clinical team

  • Lead one clinic-improvement project/initiative (i.e., offering a psychoeducational group, recurring workshop, trauma-sensitive yoga class, or other approved project)

  • Provide supervision supervision (tiered supervision) for an intern if available

  • Contribute to marketing for new clients and education to the community through blog writing, social media, and traditional media, specifically: two blogs in two specialty areas/areas of interest in the first month of employment and one blog per professional development training funded by MBTW.

Candidate Requirements:

Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD) and internship at an APA-accredited institution prior to beginning postdoctoral work at Mindbody Therapy & Wellness. Candidates must be Provisionally Licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina and eligible for Licensure as a Health Service Provider (required for psychologists practicing in NC) at the start of the position. Excellent verbal and written communication and skills, organizational skills with attention to detail, and ability to be part of our growing team of clinicians is essential. We welcome candidates of every race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation and are fully committed to creating an inclusive work environment for all our employees.

  • Previous training in mindfulness-based approaches (i.e., ACT, DBT-informed, MBCT) is required.

  • Candidates with completed training or future interest in EMDR, somatic psychotherapy (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy or Somatic Experiencing), ACT, psychodynamic, parts work, or Pain Reprocessing Therapy will be great fits.

Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated income ranges from $63,000- $80,000 annually (48 weeks of the year), depending on clinical hours. These estimates do not include paid administrative hours, nor benefits, so total compensation numbers are higher. Please note that this is a fee-for-service model, meaning that annual estimates will be impacted by your retention rate, cancellation rate, and other factors.

Postdoctoral fellows will receive a professional development stipend and will participate in a minimum of 1 hour of supervision each week (with the option of more time as developmentally indicated), biweekly case consultation, and internal and external trainings. Training may involve individual supervision, didactic instruction, and group seminars with other clinicians. Training topics will center around approaches that are trauma-informed that harness the mind-body connection (i.e., somatic and mindfulness-based approaches for PTSD and dissociation, ACT, EMDR, parts work).

Postdoctoral associates will be able to panel with major insurance providers under the supervisor’s credentialing and will have some autonomy in setting their work schedule and hours within specific time frames of office availability.

Administrative support (insurance credentialing), insurance filing, and marketing is provided, allowing clinicians to focus on their time with clients, growing their clinical skills, and improving their work in the room.
